Your critiques are the type that HELP the game get better. Absolutely agree with much of your comments, again you’re very well composed. I do hope you eventually come around to enjoying Mortal Shell.

Epic threw money into the game and provided an almost entirely cost - free platform to develop on. Those commenters are hurting the wrong people. the developer and publisher are now free to open up to the masses and they’re getting blamed for the exclusivity. The overtly obvious bias in the negative reviews were towards Epic. The automation was not very good at seeming human. I flagged a few reviews because there was an obvious tone to the message that showed it was an automated response. Someone like yourself is not the point of my frustration. You think about what you’re going to criticize and eloquently share it.

Obviously you’re a very well spoken and thoughtful person. I am happy that there is competition, though, because it will force Steam to provide even better services to drive them out of business - and with the billions they made off of Fortnite that is going to take a long time. It really reminds me of Lords of the Fallen in a lot of ways, and that's both a good and a bad a thing.Īs for Epic exclusivity, I'm personally not a fan because I feel that their customer support is nowhere near the level of Steam's in terms of convenience. I'm still going to get through the game to give it a fair shake because I feel like it really does have a lot of potential, and the beauty of Steam is you can edit your review and even switch it from negative to positive - but 4 hours in I cannot think of a friend I know that would actually enjoy this game and thus cannot give it a positive right now. People can put 30 minutes into a game and have a negative experience, and paid the same price tag as everyone else to justify leaving a review of that experience. It shouldn't take beating a game to leave a positive or negative review, by the way. I personally do not consider waiting for an enemy to perform an action to counter attack very good design, especially when the AI just wants to stand at range just within distance of another 3 enemies that will pull.Ĭouple that with egregious tracking and bosses cancelling their own animations or sped up attack animations out of nowhere and it's just too hard, imo - and I'm not afraid to say that, although maybe "not much fun" is a better phrase - to be clear I have thousands of hours in Soulslike games, I don't mind beating my head into a wall when it feels fun. I left a negative review on the game after 4 hours of play, because while the core combat and foundations have a lot of promise - the starting zone is a confusing maze and the enemy density just creates bottleneck after bottleneck that hinders your pacing if you don't want to run past everything, most importantly the AI on the enemies and the pop in from enemies instead of showing them in the draw distance consistently is a huge hindrance. Steam will remove negative reviews at the developers request that say something like "Epic Games is ruining the industry." with no input on the game, but it's something they do bi-monthly so until then it is what it is.
